Shanghai Voices started out as a curated reading series where we had a few readers have some long sets and speak to an audience with some quality work. After consideration, we decided that we liked the name enough that we decided to create a literary journal with the same name to go with the reading series.
The Shanghai Writing Workshop is based out of Shanghai, so we felt the need to give our journal a Shanghainese name. These stories are not necessarily from or about Shanghai, but they represent some of the best stories that we have enjoyed reading.
Shanghai Voices is very open to your submissions. We are open to any written work or photography or artwork that you find particularly moving. We are fine with previously published work as long as you still hold the copyright. We’re fine with any length of work as long as it is well written. All work selected for Shanghai Voices will be published on both the website and on our WeChat.
If you are a writer, I hope you will submit to Shanghai Voices. We are always looking for quality work. Details are on the Call for Work page.
